About Us

The C.A.R.E. Program is designed to support the emotional well-being of all team members at Cooper University Health Care. We promote professional fulfillment through advocacy, collaboration, and innovative programming focused on individual and system resilience.

Our mission: To foster increased meaning, connection, and joy at work for our team members.

Our Vision

C.A.R.E. seeks to insulate team members from burnout and engender increased professional fulfillment so that they may do their best, most rewarding work. We aim to nurture each of the components of the Stanford Professional Fulfillment Model – personal and professional resilience, culture of well-being, efficiency of practice – through a catalogue of well-being services, advocacy efforts, and supportive partnerships. Programmatic evaluation and research efforts play a key role in informing our journey.

Our History

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Cooper Resiliency Resources Team (RRT) was formed to support team members with the emotional toll of caring for patients, while also managing enormous personal and professional stress. From March 2020-December 2021, the RRT provided unit-based support, resiliency groups, and workshops across the health care system. The RRT also provided consultation and support to various partners, including Cooper’s Physician and Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Peer Support Programs.

With leadership support, Cooper hired a Well-Being Psychologist (Dr. Hays) in 2021 to help formalize and strengthen efforts. In January 2022, the RRT expanded into the Compassion and Resiliency Experience (C.A.R.E.) Program.
